Wayne · August 8, 2021 · Leave a Comment

To discover some of the most influential, memorable moments which have taken place in history, simply continue reading. Especially as you’ll learn about events from different points in history such as the Bubonic Plague, the invasion of Poland by Adolf Hiter, the lunar moon landing and the September 11 terrorist attack.

4 Biggest Moments in History:

The Black Plague spreads throughout Europe

While the Coronavirus pandemic shocked the world in 2020, it wasn’t the first time in history when a virus killed countless individuals and spread like wildfire. The Black Plague which was also known as the Bubonic Plague was first documented in Europe, in England during 1346, although it was thought to have originated either in Africa or Asia. The plague peaked in Europe between 1346 and 1353. During which time it’s estimated to have claimed 75 to 200 million lives.

Hitler invades Poland:

Hitler invading Poland, marked the start of WWII. On the first of September, 1931 Adolf Hitler shocked the world when he decided to invade Poland. Just two days after which both England and France declared war against Hitler and Germany. WWII was one of the biggest moments in history as it involved most of the most influential countries in the world such as England, America, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, and Japan. Even Australian and New Zealand troops were sent to the front lines to fight with England and the Allies against Hitler’s troops.

During WII approximately 75 million individuals lost their lives. However, what may surprise you is that while around 20 million military service people lost their lives during WWII, a staggering 40 million civilians lost their lives due to the war. Some of which lost their lives to mass bombings, genocide, and starvation.

The moon landing:

On the 20th of July, 1969, the crew of Apollo 11, were the first crew to land on the moon. Although Russia had landed an unmanned space craft on the moon, 10 years earlier. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, both from the United States had the pleasure of being the first human beings to ever step foot onto the moon. One reason why the moon landing was so significant was that it was one of the first significant historic events to be broadcasted live via television.

The September 11 terrorist attack:

One historic event in recent history, which deserves to be mentioned is the September 11 terrorist attacks which took place in the United States in 2001. On this fateful day, four co-ordinated attacks by islamic terrorists shocked the world. Including an attack on the Pentagon and an attack on the World Trade Center, in New York City. Four groups of terrorists hijacked four planes which they planned to crash into significant buildings in the United States. Two of which were prevented. In total, 2996 individuals lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks.

So if you’re interested in history and were curious about which events in history were the most significant, hopefully you found the information above interesting.
